CORAL TEXT

This Style is fun to generate and can create quite a Rainbow Effect!
 
 
1.) Create a New file, 800 X 600 pixels at 225 ppi on a white background.
 
2.) In the Tool palette, Click the Background color well and when the Color-Picker appears, enter #FFFF00 at the bottom input box then click OK to close. Select Foreground color well and set to #FF66CC.
 
 
3.) Select the Horizontal Type tool . In the Options bar, Select Arial Black Regular 80pt Sharp. (You will have to type 80 at the input box for size.) Now, click on the work area and type your text. Select the Move tool and Click+Drag on text to center.
 
 
Go to Window > Character and change the tracking to -25, then close the dialog box.
 
 
 
Now, in the Layers palette... Right-Click on the Type layer to open the pop-out menu. Select Rasterize Layer.
 
 
3.) Next, select the Eraser tool and in the Options bar, click the downward triangle to open the Brush-Picker. Select the Hard Round 19px brush. (If the library is different than the image below, click the triangle at the top right corner and a pop-out menu will appear. Select Reset Brushes. A message box will appear, just click OK and the correct library will load.) Press Enter on the keyboard to close the Brush-Picker.
 
 
Use the Eraser to cut away some pieces out of the text and reshape the bottom end of the of the first letter.
 
 

4.) Select the Horizontal Brush tool and in the Options bar, click the downward triangle to open the Brush-Picker. Select the Hard Round 9px brush. Set the Diameter to 8px and paint some squiggles rising from the text. Adjust brush diameter to 4px and paint more detail. (If the library is different than the image below, click the triangle in the top right corner and a pop-out menu will appear. Select Reset Brushes. A message box will appear, just click OK and the correct library will load.)

 
 
 

5.) In the Layers palette... click on the Create a new layer button to create a new blank layer. Repeat step 4 adding more detail raising it higher. When you are finished painting, click on the next layer Below to select.

6.) Go to Filter > Distort > Ocean Ripple... and set Ripple size to 8 and Ripple Magnitude to 20 then click OK to close.
 
7.) Go to Window > Styles to open the Styles palette (if not visible). In the Styles palette, locate the style named Coral and click on it to apply effects then go to Step 8.
 
(Alternately, you may apply settings manually by following Steps 7a thru 7c below).
7a.) Go to Layer > Layer Style > Drop Shadow... and the Layer Style palette will open. Click the color well to open the Color-Picker. Enter #006699 at the bottom input box, then click OK to close. Next, click the downward triangle next to the Contour window to open the Contour-Picker. Select the contour named Cove - Deep. Adjust settings below. Keep the Layer Style palette up for the next few steps.
 
 
7b.) Next, click the Bevel and Emboss tab. Click the first color well to open the Color-Picker. Enter #33CC00 at the bottom input box, then click OK to close. Click the second color well and adjust color to #FF6600. Now, make your adjustments to the settings below.
 

Under the Bevel and Emboss tab- Click the Contour tab.

 

 

7c.) Next, click on the Pattern Overlay tab. Adjust Opacity to 54%. Click on the downward triangle next to the Pattern window to open the Pattern-Picker. Click the triangle at the top right corner and a pop-out menu will appear. Select Patterns. A message box will appear, just click OK and the correct library will load. Click on the pattern named Molecular, then click the OK button to close the Layer Style palette.
 
 
8.) Text should now appear similar to image below.
 
 

Next, in the Layers palette, click on the next layer Above and repeat steps 6 and 7. Now, turn off the Eye icon to Drop Shadow for this layer.

 
 
 
11.) In the Layers palette... click on the Create a new layer button to create a new blank layer. With the Horizontal Brush tool selected, carry the brush over the work area and Right-Click to bring up the Brush-Picker. Use the scroll bar on the right of the library to find the brush named Grass and click on it to select. Then change Diameter to 100. Now, click on the blue bar at top of program to close palette.
 
 
This special brush will paint a rainbow effect if you click and drag it across the work area.It will also paint at different sizes at random. We want to use the magic of this brush, but for this tutorial only, click once or twice each time to make placement on the text. If the size and color is not to your liking each time, simply use Alt+Ctrl+Z to Step Backward and try again until it looks right.
 

Here is the finished Coral style.
