EXERCISE 1

You must first Download the Samples.zip and Presets.zip folders for this CD. Follow the instructions in the accompanying Readme files. After Installation of the "Presets"... Open Photoshop.

Before you begin any of the Tutorials, you will need to change the Styles and Contour libraries.

Changing the Styles Library
1.) Go to Window > Styles. When the Styles palette appears, click the triangle at the top right corner and a pop-out menu will appear. Select KS Styles.

2.) A message box will appear, just click OK and the correct library will load.

This is the KS Styles library that are used for the Tutorials.

Changing the Contour Library
1.) Go to Layer > Layer Style > Drop Shadow... and the Layer Style palette will open. Click the downward triangle next to the Contour window to open the Contour-Picker.

2.) Click the triangle at the top right corner and a pop-out menu will appear. Select KS Contours. (This library has already been combined with Photoshop's installed presets, to eliminate the need to Reload Contour libraries during production.)

3.) A message box will appear, just click OK and the correct library will load.

4.) With the New library loaded, click the OK button to close the Layer Style palette.

You are now ready to proceed to the Tutorials.
Note: The same procedures listed above are used to swap libraries of other categories such as Brushes, Swatches, Gradients, Styles, Patterns and Custom Shapes.

Additional Reference Notes:
These Tutorials use the Character dialog box in some cases to change the spacing of letters to text. Unless specified, Character spacing will be set to 0.

To open the Character dialog box... go to Window > Character.

Changes for CS2 Users- Photoshop CS2 requires the user to Ctrl+Click the Thumbnail in the Layers palette to create a Selection.
