In this Tutorial, I will show you how to
create some Stylized text Back Lit with a high intensity Neon Glow.

| |
1.) Create a New file, 800
X 600 pixels at 225 ppi. Press D on the keyboard to set the Foreground
color to black. Press Alt+Backspace to fill the Background layer
with black. Now, in the Layers palette... click
the Eye icon
to turn Off the visibility to the layer. |

2.) In the Layers
palette... Drag the Background layer to the Create a new layer
button
to Duplicate layer. Now, Drag the original Background layer to the
Delete Layer button
as we will no longer need it. Next, click the Eye icon
to turn Off visibility to the Background layer. |

3.) Select the Horizontal Type
tool
and type your First bit of text. The font used is Impact Roman 60pt
Smooth. While the bar is still blinking... move the curser under the
text, then Click+Drag to position just above Center in the document
window. Select the Move tool
to commit and Click+Drag on text to reposition if needed. |

4.) Select the Horizontal Type
tool
and type your Second bit of text. Select the Move tool
to commit and Click+Drag on text to position as shown below.

5.)
Go to Layer > Merge Visible.
Now, turn back On the Eye icon 
to Background layer. Work area will turn all black. Don't worry,
our text is still present and we will fix this in a moment. |

6.) Go to Window >
Styles to open the Styles palette (if not visible).
In the Styles palette now, find the style named
Rainbow Glow1
and click to apply settings. Go to Step 7.

| (Alternately you can apply settings manually
by following Step 6a below.) |
| 6a.) Go to Layer
> Layer Style > Outer Glow...
and the Layer Style palette will open. Click the color well and the
Color-Picker will open. Enter #FFFFFF at the input box at the bottom,
then click OK to close. Adjust settings below. Now, click the OK button
to close the Layer Style palette. |

| 7.) Go to Layer
> Duplicate Layer... and when the pop-up appears,
just click OK. In the Layers palette click on the
layer Below to select. |

8.) In the Styles
palette now, find the style named Rainbow Glow2
and click on it to apply settings. Go to Step 9. |

| (Alternately you can apply settings manually
by following Step 8a below.) |
| 8a.) Under the Effects
bar to this layer, Double-Click on Outer Glow to
open the Layer Style palette. Click the color well and the Color-Picker
will open. Enter #FFFF33 at the input box at the bottom, then click
OK to close. Now, click the downward triangle next to the Contour
window to open the Contour-Picker. Select the contour named Half
Round. Adjust settings below. Now, click the OK button to close
the Layer Style palette. |

9.) Go to Layer
> Duplicate Layer... and when the pop-up
appears, just hit OK. In the Layers palette click
on the layer Below to select.

10.) In the Styles
palette... find the style named Rainbow Glow3
and click on it to apply settings. Go to Step 11.

| (Alternately you can apply settings manually
by following Step 10a below.) |
| 10a.) Under the Effects
bar to this layer, Double-Click on Outer Glow to
open the Layer Style palette. Click the color well and the Color-Picker
will open. Enter #CC00FF at the input box at the bottom, then click
OK to close. Adjust settings below, then click the OK button to close
the Layer Style palette. |

| 11.) Should have some powerful
Glow present at this stage. |

|
| |
Now that we have a nice Glow going, we're ready
to start working on the inside of the text. In the Layers
palette... Click the Top layer to Select. Next, press Ctrl+Click
on this layer to create a Selection around text. Click the Create
a new layer button
to create a new blank layer in which to paint.

12.) Select the Brush
tool ,
then carry brush over the work area and Right-Click to open the
Brush-Picker. Now, click the triangle
at the top right corner and a pop-out menu will appear. Select
Special Effect Brushes. A message box
will appear, just click OK and the correct library will load.
Select the first brush named Azalea.
Press Enter on the keyboard to close the Brush library.

13.) Click+Drag over the Top half
of each word and an image will be painted at random.

14.) In the Styles
palette... click on the style named Rainbow
Overlay1
to apply the effects. Go to Step 15.

| (Alternately, you may apply settings manually
by following Steps 14a and 14b below.) |
14a.) Go to Layer
> Layer Style > Pattern Overlay...
and the Layer Style palette will open. Click the downward
triangle next to the Pattern window to open the Pattern-Picker. Now,
click the triangle
at the top right corner and a pop-out menu will appear. Select Patterns.
A message box will appear, just click OK and the correct library will
load. Select the pattern named Tie Dye. |

14b.) Press Enter on the keyboard
to close the library. Adjust Scale to 269%, then click the OK
button to close the Layer Style palette.

15.) Here is a snapshot of how
the text should look like with the first Pattern Overlay applied.

| |
Click the Create a new layer button
to create a new blank layer in which to paint. Place your brush
over the work area and Right-Click to open the Brush-Picker. Using
the slider...adjust Diameter of brush to 50px then click Enter
on the keyboard to close.

16.) Click+Drag across the Top
and Bottom of Both words leaving some black space and color between
the Centers. Now, press Ctrl+D to Deselect Selection.

17.) In the Styles
palette... click on the style named Rainbow
Overlay2
to apply the effects. Text is now completed. You can click here
to compare your work.

| (Alternately, you may apply the finishing
settings manually by following Steps 17a and
17b below.) |
17a.) In the Layers
palette... on the layer Below, Click+Drag the Effects
tab to the Top layer and release.

17b.) Now, Under the Effects
bar to Top layer, Double-Click on Pattern Overlay
and the Layer Style palette will open. The Tie Dye
pattern will already be selected. Adjust the Scale to 251%, then
click the OK button to close the Layer Style palette.
