This Technique I also call the Houdini Effect!

| 1.) Create a New file, 800
X 600 pixels at 225 ppi on a white background. Press D on the keyboard
to set Foreground color to black. |

2.) Select the Horizontal
Type tool ,
then go to the Options bar to set up the font. Select SheerElegance
Regular 140pt Smooth. (You will have to enter 140 for size at
the input box.) Click on the work area now and type your text.
Select the Move tool
to commit and position text to center. |

| |
3.) Go to Window
> Styles to open the Styles palette (if
not visible). In the Styles palette... locate
the style named Trick Gold 
and click on it to apply effects. Go to Step 4. |

| (Alternately, you may apply settings
manually by following Steps 3a thru 3f
below.) |
| 3a.)
Go to Layer > Layer Style
> Color Overlay... when the Layer
Style palette appears, Click the color well and when
the Color-Picker appears, enter #FFCCFF at the bottom input box
then click OK to close. Do not close the Layer Style palette,
all of the adjustments will be made here for the time being. |

| 3b.)
Click the Inner Shadow tab. Change the color
well to # 0099CC, then follow with settings below: |

| 3c.) Next, click the
Drop Shadow tab. Adjust settings accordingly.

3d.) Click the Drop
Shadow tab. Click the downward triangle next to the
Gloss Contour window to open the Contour-Picker. Select the
contour named Ring - Double, then
press enter on the keyboard to close. Adjust settings below.

3e.) Under the Bevel and Emboss
tab- Click the Contour tab. Click the downward
triangle next to the Contour window to open the Contour-Picker.
Select the contour named Trick Gold,
then press enter on the keyboard to close. Adjust Range to
83%.

3f.) Now, click the Outer
Glow tab. Change the color well to #FFFFFF, then finish
with settings below. Click the OK button when finished to close
the Layer Style palette as we are now finished using it.

| 4.) Here is what your image
should look like at this point. It is a finished image in it's own
right and the basis for the Magic of what is to follow. Now, go
to Layer > Flatten Image. |

| You may be asking yourself at this point,
"What happened to the trick part?". Well here it is! |
| 5.) Press Ctrl+U on
the keyboard to bring up the Hue/Saturation palette,
then change settings as shown below. Now, click the OK button
to close. |

6.) You will have now
at this point, the sweet green/gold colors switched into your text.
Time now to add the final touch of Sparkles using a Star Brush.
Select the Brush tool .
In the Options bar... click the downward triangle
to open the Brush-Picker. Now, click the triangle
at the top right corner and a pop-out menu will appear. Select KS
Assorted Brushes. A message box will appear, just click OK
and the correct library will load. Select the brush named Star1.
Press Enter on the keyboard to close palette. |

Press X on the keyboard to switch the
Foreground color to white. In the Layers palette...
Click the Create a new layer button
each time before you add a Star. This will place each Star on
it's own layer and allow you to rotate them independently if needed.

| To rotate Stars... in the Layers
palette, click the layer the Star is on you wish to rotate. Press
Ctrl+T to bring up the Free Transform bounding
box. Now, place the curser on the Outside of one of the corners
and Click+Drag to rotate. Double-Click inside the box to apply. |

| Here's yet another example of what you
can produce using this Style. Nice Christmas colors, don't you agree?
Using the image produced from step 4, I pressed
Ctrl+U on the keyboard and brought up the Hue/Saturation
palette once again, then adjusted Hue to -180 and Saturation to
+60. |
