SCATTERING

The Scattering controls regulate spacing of instances of the brush along the path of the Stroke.

The Scattering slider moves instances of the brush perpendicular to the Stroke. All of the below images use a Spacing (set in the Brush Tip Shape pane) at 50%.

No Scattering

Scattering 100% one axis
As the slider obtains a value, the critters begin to crawl (spread) opposite to the Stroke.

Scattering 100% both axis
Checking the Both Axis box Reduces the Spacing with variation to the point that some overlapping of the brush instances can occur.

Scattering 200% one axis
Higher Scattering values push the critters still further from Center of the Stroke.

Scattering 200% Count slider 3 one axis
As the Count slider is Increased, so are the instances of the brush along the path of the Stroke.

Scattering 200% Count slider 2 one axis
Now, look at what happens with a small tweak by adjusting Angle Jitter to 100% (Shape Dynamics pane). The critters appear to be running all over the place! (The Count setting was dropped to 2 to Reduce the amount of collisions, while still keeping the instances to the brush multiplied to Create an image bursting with activity.)

Count Jitter allows the user yet another means to add randomizing of brush instances.

With the Fade Control Selected, the box to the immediate Right allows the user to input values to control the distance along the path of the Stroke that the effects will take place.
