| You will find the Painting
tools all grouped into the second section of the Tool palette. Though
they are found primarily on the Right half of the palette, the Left
side has been shown because some of their extended tools are used
in some of the Tutorials. (A Right Click to any Tool will Open it's
set of hidden tools as displayed below.) |

Brush Tool |
| The Paint Brush tool is the primary
tool you will use to do most of your painting. This tool paints
evenly through out the Stroke. To paint Vertically or Horizontally
(Constrained) Hold the Shift key as you paint the Stroke. You can
paint a straight line between two points by clicking once to set
the first point, then Shift+Click to set the end point and a line
will appear between the two points. |

Pencil
Tool |
| The Pencil tool paints evenly through
out the Stroke with hard edges. This tool as an Auto Erase feature
built into it. Painting over a previous Pencil Stroke will automatically
Erase it. |

Airbrush
Tool |
| This tool you will find as an available
Option to the various paint tools such as the Brush, History Brush,
Clone Stamp, Pattern Stamp, Erasure, Dodge, Burn and Sponge tools.
Unlike the Brush tool, it it sprays paint with diffused edges. You
can adjust it just like the real thing and have it spray a continuous
stream or with a fade. The longer you hold the brush in a single
spot (or the slower you move it) the More paint will be deposited. |

History Brush Tool

| The History Brush tool is used in conjunction
with the History palette. Example: If a Filter was used somewhere
along production of an image, Selecting the History Brush, then
Selecting the Filter operation in the History palette will apply
it's effects while painting. |

Art History Brush
Tool |
| The Art History brush tool can be defined
as a mix of the Paint Brush, Smudge and Watercolor Filter. Use it
to turn Photo's into Paintings. |

Gradient
Tool |
| The Gradient tool allows the user to
Create multiple blends between Colors. It can Fill Selections as
well as whole layers. Blending Options available are Linear, Radial,
Angular, Reflected and Diamond. |

Paint Bucket
Tool |
| The Paint Bucket tool allows the user to Fill entire
areas with just one click. |
| |
Dodge Tool |
| The Dodge Tool will Lighten areas.
A Drop Down located in the Options bar allows the user to Select
Shadows, Midtones or Highlights to be adjusted. Exposure is also
an Option. |

Burn
Tool |
| The Burn Tool will Darken areas. This
tool carries the same Options as the Dodge Tool. |
| |
Sponge
Tool |
| The Sponge tool has two basic functions
controlled from a Drop Down located in the Options bar. Saturate
and Desaturate. Simply brush over an area to Intensify or Reduce
the Colors. The Flow Value determines it's strength. |

Healing Brush
Tool |
| The Healing Brush tool is used to fix
blemishes. Paints with sampled pixels from an image or Pattern.
It also matches Textures, Lighting and Shading of the sampled pixels
to the source pixels. |

Patch Tool
|
| The Patch tool allows you to repair
a selected area with pixels from another area or Pattern. |

Color Replacement
Tool |
| The Color Replacement tool is a splendid
device! Select a Color from the Foreground Color swatch you wish
to replace somewhere in the image. Click once on the old Color to
set the target, then Drag. Only the old Color in the image will
be replaced! |

Clone Stamp Tool |
| The Cloning Stamp tool is used to basically
Copy and Paste areas of an image. Used in conjunction with Soft
Round brushes, repairs to images or complete replacement of distracting
details can achieved. |

Pattern Stamp Tool |
| The Pattern Stamp tool paints with a defined Pattern
you can Select from the Options bar. |
| |
Eraser Tool |
| The Erasure tool is your Erasure! Options
found in the Options bar affect it's behavior. |

Background Eraser
Tool |
| The Background Erasure allows the user
to remove the Background Color from an image or layer. Clicking
once samples the Color at the Center of the brush, then erases this
Color as you Drag. There are Limits, Tolerances and Sampling methods
available found in the Options bar. |

Magic Eraser Tool
|
| The Magic Erasure erases All Colors
within a set tolerance. Works similar to the Magic Wand with Delete.
To use just click once. |

Blur Tool |
| The Blur tool Un-focuses areas of the
image it is Dragged over. |
| |
Sharpen Tool |
| The Sharpen tool Focuses areas in an image it is
Dragged over. |
| |
Smudge Tool |
| The Smudge tool will blend two or more
Colors, it basically Moves paint. This tool picks up paint from
it's starting point and Moves it toward the direction of travel.
It is a superb Blending Tool with alot of control. The Finger Painting
Option, found in the Options bar paints using the Foreground Color.
Strength adjusts the pressure applied to the Smear. You will also
find several Blending Options available. |
