FLASHING TEXT ANIMATION

This Effect is easy to make but very Powerful!

1.) Open ImageReady. Create a New file. Go to File > New. Make it 400 X 100 pixels on a White Background, then click OK. Next, press D on the keyboard to set the Foreground color to Black.

2.) Select the Type tool . Go to the Options bar and Select the font. I used Arial Black Regular 100 px Sharp. (You may have to manually input 100 px for size.) Next, click on the Color well to the Right to launch the Color-Picker.

Select a color or simply type in #FF0000 at the Bottom input box to select the color I used, then click OK to apply.

3.) Click on the work area and Type your Text. Select the Move tool to Commit. Now, Drag Text to Center. Next, in the Layers palette, Right-Click on Type layer and a pop-out menu will appear. Select Rasterize Layer.

4.) Go to Layer > Duplicate Layer. Now, go to Select > Load Selection > Copy Transparency. (A Selection will appear to the Outer edges of Type.) Press Alt+Backspace to Fill Selection with Black. Now, use Ctrl+D to Deselect Selection.

The Layers palette should now look like this:

5.) I usually fuzz the edges at this point. Click the Add a layer style button (located at the Bottom of the Layers palette) and a pop-up menu will appear. Select Outer Glow. When the Layer Style palette appears... Change the Blend Mode to Normal, Spread to 3 and the Size to 11, then click the Color well and the Color-Picker will appear. Change Color to Red. Now, click OK on Both palettes to apply.

6.) In the Layers palette... click the Next layer Down to Select. Now, repeat Step 5, but this time change the Color well to Black. When you are finished, click the Eye icon to the Top layer to turn Off visibility to it's layer.

The Layers palette should now look as below. (This sets up the First Frame of the Animation.)

7.) Go to the Animation palette and click the Duplicate Frame button to generate Frame 2.

8.) Now, go to the Layers palette and click Off the Eye icon to the Red layer and On to the Black layer.

Frame 2 will change accordingly...

9.) Animation is now ready to play by hitting the play button. (For a more precise animation speed) click the Preview in Browser button , to view in a browser.

10.) Optimize and Save the file with File > Save Optimized As... Images Only (*.gif)
